Separately Managed Accounts

Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) are outsourced investment portfolios / strategies tailored to meet the specific preferences, risk tolerance, and objectives of an individual investor or institutional client. Unlike pooled investment funds where multiple investors share a single portfolio, SMAs allow investors to retain direct ownership of assets and maintain transparency without their holdings leaving their Deribit account.

Deribit can introduce to investors multiple SMA providers, and the differences and investment strategies are shown below. Ultimately the customer enters into an agreement with the SMA provider and once the key terms (strategy, fees etc.) are agreed upon, the customer shares an API key with the SMA for a specific Deribit sub-account. This key should not have the ability to withdraw funds so that the investor retain full control on his assets.

For SMA subaccounts, a broker’s fee is applied to all SMA-executed trades. The SMA subaccount’s trading volume is not included in the main account volume calculation.
